Yarrells is delighted to introduce Anne Marie English as our new Nursery Manager. With over two decades of experience in the childcare sector, Anne Marie brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for early years education. Having started as a nursery nurse, Anne Marie progressed to become a team leader and eventually a registered manager for two nurseries. Spending 17 years in her previous role, she has gained extensive expertise in leading early years settings to provide exceptional care and education. During this time, she also completed a foundation degree in Early Years, further enriching her understanding of child development and learning processes.
“I strongly believe that children learn best through play,” says Anne Marie. “Our goal at Yarrells is to ensure every child is happy, confident, and well-prepared for their next transition whether that be moving from Nutkins to Squirrels or from Squirrels to Reception. By embedding high-quality play-based learning, we aim to provide the best possible start in life and the support they need to fulfil their potential.” At Yarrells, we are committed to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can thrive. With Anne Marie leading the team, we look forward to continuing to deliver outstanding early years education and care.
More about Yarrells Nursery…
A Magical Woodland Setting for Early Learning
Set in a beautiful woodland glade, Yarrells Nursery is the perfect environment for children to discover life’s mysteries with awe and wonder. Our focus is on fostering curiosity, enthusiasm, and a lifelong love for learning through child-initiated play and immersive experiences.
Expanded Nursery Options for Families
To better support families, we have introduced a range of new flexible care options. Our wraparound care ensures that parents can access extended early morning and after-school care from 07:30 to 18:00 each day. For those requiring year-round provision, our new 50-week programme offers full-year care, in addition to our term-time options. Families can also take advantage of our Term Time Plus Flexibility, which allows for additional weeks of nursery care during school holidays, subject to availability.
Nursery Life at Yarrells
Yarrells Nursery welcomes children from 2 years old, offering full-time and part-time options. Our Nutkins Class provides a joyful introduction to nursery life for younger children, while the Squirrels Class, from age 3, prepares children for a smooth transition into Reception.
A strong emphasis is placed on child-initiated play, encouraging exploration, creativity, and independent learning. Outdoor learning is at the heart of our approach, with free-flow access to large outdoor spaces, including our woodland environment. Additionally, children enjoy specialist sessions in dance, French, music, swimming, sport, and Forest School, all designed to enhance their learning experience.
A Focus on Individual Development
At Yarrells, we prioritise the development of the whole child, focusing on key areas such as Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Communication & Language, and Physical Development. Specific learning areas including Mathematics, Knowledge of the World, Literacy, and Creative Development ensure a well-rounded approach to education. Each child's progress is carefully monitored, with tailored support to help them develop at their own pace.
A Warm, Supportive Community
Joining Yarrells Nursery means becoming part of a warm and welcoming school community. Our nursery children benefit from shared facilities such as the school’s dining room, library, woodland, and gardens, helping them feel comfortable and familiar with the wider school environment. Through interaction with older pupils, children build friendships and develop confidence, ensuring a smooth transition into Reception when the time comes.
