Deputy Head

Assistant Head (Academic), Head of Geography, RE & Year 6 Form Tutor

Prior to working at Yarrells my experience has been teaching KS2 in a wide range of settings. Particular highlights include working in a fantastic school in inner city London as well as an International School in Bangkok. Living and working in SE Asia was a great experience. Over the years I have had the opportunity to lead many different curriculum subjects, from English in Thailand, to MFL and PE in a local first school. Currently I lead geography and RE, both of which I believe are vital in children’s development and understanding of the world. Being a geographer at heart, I have travelled extensively and have a passion for global citizenship and the environment. In every school I have worked in I have been involved with promoting Eco Schools and I am thoroughly enjoying working with our Pupil Parliament Environment Committee at Yarrells.

In my role at Yarrells as Deputy Head Academic, I oversee the curriculum which I believe is a  broad, exciting and purposeful learning experience. The PSB skills underpin my belief as an educator that children have every opportunity to become confident, self-motivated learners who can tackle challenges head-on. I truly value the importance of our young people gaining strong moral values from their time at Yarrells. I am lucky to work with fantastic colleagues who are talented and passionate in their areas of expertise.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have two wonderful daughters and love the outdoors, especially the mountains. I am a keen skier as well as an avid reader and set up a book group some years ago that is still going strong. I am currently learning Italian and training for the Mighty Hike. I truly believe Yarrells is a unique school and am lucky to be part of developing an enthusiasm for learning in our citizens of the future.
